REAL Couples – REAL Issues – REAL solutions.
This blog is a part of a series inspired by real conversations between real couples. The words have been inspired by using one of the guided conversations from www.OnlineMarriagePreparation.com.
STEP ONE: How do we define our issue?
We have trust issues. Bride caught groom chatting with somebody and felt suspicious
STEP TWO: Why is this important to me/us?
Bride: I want to remove the pain in my heart from cheating.
Groom: I want to gain her trust again, I made a horrible mistake and I’m sorry about it.
We want to fix it and regain trust.
Our Feelings: hopeful, sad, tired, lonely, untrusting
STEP THREE: What will a better future look like for us?
We will regain more trust, and bride will know that she is the only one and that she is enough. Bride will give groom a chance and we will both keep showing each other our love. We will be more forgiving and learn from the mistake. We will continue to help each other out in difficult situations. Communication will always be important.
Groom:
STEP FOUR: What are our best ideas?
Idea One: We will both pray for God’s help.
Idea Two: We will be kind to each other.
STEP FIVE: What will I/we actually do?
We will pray for God’s guidance and always have a listening ear and a forgiving heart. We will stay calm, talk when we are ready, and admit fault and forgive.
STEP SIX: How will we know that we’re making progress?
When we have learned to overcome our trust issues.
