When Maricarmen and Ernesto signed up for a pre-marital course from Florida, they didn’t quite know what to expect. Like many couples, they figured it would be a helpful step, something to check off the list before the wedding. What they didn’t expect was that it would be such a transformative experience —not just for their relationship, but for themselves as individuals.
“I absolutely loved the idea of doing this course and enjoyed the experience to the fullest,” Maricarmen shared. “It exceeded any idea I could’ve had.”
For them, the course became more than a learning experience—it was a deep dive into the heart of their relationship. It helped them revisit the early days of their love story, reflect on their personal and mutual growth, and engage in conversations they might not have had otherwise.
Rediscovering Connection
In the middle of wedding planning, careers, and everyday life, it’s easy for couples to get caught up in the whirlwind of doing, rather than simply being together. This course provided a space to pause and reflect. It encouraged them to explore how they’ve changed since they first fell in love and where they’re headed together.
For Ernesto, a long-haul truck driver, making time for the course was initially just another thing on the to-do list. But it quickly became something much more.
“She and I speak multiple times per day, every single day, and I can say we both enjoyed being on FaceTime for nearly 5 or 6 hours to complete this course,” he said.
Despite the distance, they found a way to connect deeply—something that might not have happened if they hadn’t committed to this experience. It became an opportunity to strengthen their bond in a unique and powerful way.
Healing, Growth, and Conscious Parenting
One of the most profound moments came when they reflected on their childhoods and their parents. These conversations led to honest realizations about the kind of parents they want to be and how their upbringing has shaped their values.
“We both realized how much differently we want to do things with our children,” Maricarmen shared. “It really helped us create conscience on how we act and treat our kids.”
More Than Just “Winging It”
Too often, couples dive into marriage without taking the time to talk through the big things—communication styles, expectations, long-term goals, conflict, family, and more. This course helped Ernesto and Maricarmen slow down, ask the important questions, and really listen to each other’s answers.
“A lot of people just wing it and don’t realize how impactful these conversations can be,” Maricarmen said. “We need a little help connecting with our partner and this course did exactly that.”
A Recommendation From the Heart
Both Ernesto and Maricarmen walked away with a deeper understanding of each other, a renewed connection, and a toolkit to navigate married life with clarity and love.
Their message is clear: whether you’re engaged, newly married, or years into your relationship, taking the time to invest in these kinds of conversations can be a game-changer.
So don’t wait.
